Daeida Magazine is named in honor of Mrs. Daeida Wilcox Beveridge
(1862-1914), the woman who gave Hollywood its cinematic namesake.
Legends recount a train trip east in the 1800's and of a particular encounter
en route between Daeida and a fellow passenger who enchanted her
listener with the tale of an idyllic country home called "Hollywood" in the
midwest. Upon returning to Los Angeles, amongst the bags and parcels of
her recent travels, Mrs. Beveridge carefully unpacked that magic word -
Hollywood - and bestowed it to the world outside her windows on Prospect
Avenue. In the spirit of her inspired style, our magazine is named for her.
